I receive a lot of requests from my software consulting, software services, and software development clients for referrals to companies providing E&O (errors and omissions) coverage for software development. Many large institutional software customers have specific insurance coverage and indemnity language requirements in the software development agreement. Developers are frequently hunting for adequate coverage on an extremely short RFQ / proposal / contract negotiation deadline. I’d like this page to become a resource list of companies that provide software E&O coverage and what states they legally operate in (and ideally, a line or two of specifics about what software-related coverage they write). Please contact me if you have a recommendation to a company or an agent writing software E&O — or if you want your company added to the list.

Finally, I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of the Computer Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan — a number of section members are long-term professional contacts who contributed names and information to get this list started.
